12 Weeks!!!!!!

Hey followers and anonymous readers! I promised I would document my pregnancy and I am...I just wanted to at least reach the 3 month milestone mark BEFORE doing so. As you can see by the title of the post I am now 12 weeks, 3 months!!! As of yesterday Sunday, August 7, 2011 I am 12 weeks pregnant. I had a doctor's appointment this past Friday and it was amazing to see my baby inside of me, a little bigger, wiggling, very active, and not wanting to have his/her picture taken. Everytime the doctor tried to take a sonogram of the baby facing forward, the baby would turn away just as he decided to take the pic...LOL stubborn little one already!

Anyway, 3 months is great! I'm now able to look at the sonograms and point to the head, arms, hands, legs, feet, body...which is all still very tiny but there forming wonderfully and functioning properly! The 12 week mark has also meant another milestone for me. The first trimester blues seems to be ending and my energy is coming back; my days are more active, nights are longer, and nausea is ALMOST nonexistent, but I'm told that is for now until the dreaded 3rd trimester LOL!!

Anywho, since I realized I was pregnant, I have been receiving weekly email and alerts to my phone from www.babycenter.com (visit them) about the changes that are occuring with the baby weekly and other useful information regarding pregnancy. I thought since it has been so long, I would share what the alert said this week about the baby's development....

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Again that was courtesy of the trusty babycenter.com!!!!

I look forward to those alerts every week!

I'm going to put the sonogram up a little later! It's going to be wonderful to see my baby grow from an image on a sono to a little person in a few months!!! Yayyyy!!!!
